    Date protocols when using TNG

I send my Reunion Family Tree to TNG via Gedcom. It is the family tree included in my Schrock-Birkey Connections website (www.birkey.org). In TNG Statistics the earliest birth is shown to be 1710-12. However, I have many earlier births in the tree. TNG forum says it has something to do with the way the dates are entered in Reunion and translated into TNG. Does anyone in this forum use TNG and able to explain how to overcome this problem with date entry?

The easiest thing to do would be for you to give some examples of dates you entered that TNG isn't recognising as a date - so things from before 1710-1712 that are in Reunion, but don't show as expected in TNG.

      !. Birth: abt 1375 2. Birth: 775 3. Birth: 1631 Death 1678 4. Birth: abt 1550 Death: aft 1593 (Side bar for this one shows Dates.jpeg )
The above is what I have entered into Reunion for four different people. If you need more than this let me know.

Roger, in the individual files in TNG all these show correctly. But for some reason they are not picked up in the Statistic section as the oldest. My actual oldest person in the family file is Charlemagne, "Magnus" 742-814.

Presumably they are not picked up by the TNG Statistic code because they aren't being seen by TNG as valid dates for some reason

Interestingly though, if I go to your site, and search for someone born in 1375 there are 2 of them - so TNG has understood the "abt 1375" correctly, and searching for someone born 775 also works.

Can you make a .zip copy of your GEDCOM file and eMail it to me at rogerkiwi@aol.com and I'll import it into my testing site and see if I can figure out what's going on.

Oh and PS - now I see your site again, I replied to your question on the WordPress forum for the tng-wordpress-plugin a few days ago - I hadn't looked there in ages, and never get notified of new postings, even though I am the plugin author.

Roger, because of your over-and-above help I now know how to structure dates to they show up correctly in TNG. You are a great problem solver! Thanks again.
