keeping multimedia attached to Sources together with source as it is exported to FTM

Hopefully one of the founts of knowledge on ReunionTalk (Bob White, theKiwi,..) can help me here. A little off topic, but I know you guys can probably help. Some months ago I exported my Reunion family tree GEDCOM into FTM - and from FTM into Ancestry. The tree was imported successfully into FTM and into Ancestry. What I want to do, and don't know if it is possible, is to see my multimedia linked to my various sources in Reunion show up in FTM and Ancestry also linked to the same sources.

As far as I can tell, the multimedia that was linked to my Reunion sources was imported into FTM and in to Ancestry, but not linked to my sources. The multimedia that I put on each person's photo place in Reunion transferred successfully as multimedia linked to that person in both FTM and Ancestry, but the multimedia linked to my sources was just sort of dumped into a large multimedia bucket - most apparent on FTM. In Ancestry, each source shows up just fine - but not a hint of the multimedia associated with the source

Short of going back into each of my thousands of sources and pulling multimedia from them and placing, one at a time, each person's multimedia into the portrait place in Reunion family view is there any way to cause my Sources multimedia to be linked to the appropriate person in FTM and Ancestry? A very unpleasant prospect.

Looking through my files, I see that the media attached to sources didn't make it to Family Tree Maker when I did the GEDCOM from Reunion to Family Tree Maker. I've never bothered investigating to see what might have caused this failure.

But once it's in Ancestry, Ancestry does show you the media attached to a person and let you then link it to the source about a person. But I guess if you didn't link it also to the person (you had it linked just to the source) it will be more difficult.

Presumably if you made the linkage in Family Tree Maker it would propagate to Ancestry? - Nope - just tried that and it didn't, but making the change on Ancestry did propagate back to Family Tree Maker.

      Thanks Roger -

By linking to the person in Reunion, do you mean you added to the person by dragging into the multimedia space appearing to the left of the person's name in the Family View?

Well that's one way to do it - I usually have the Multimedia screen open and add them to the Husband or Wife or Family - which ever seems more appropriate at the time.

Seems like a lot of megabytes added to the family file?

Thats not something I think very much about - storage is cheap - a 2TB SSD isn't a whole lot of money these days.

Yeah - I'm using a 2TB SSD as my boot disk. I was just more worried about bloating my Reunion file and slowing it down.

Looks like I'm going to spend some hours moving copies of all my multimedia into the appropriate person file (in addition to leaving them linked to my sources). Too bad there's not an easy way of doing this in Reunion.

Thanx for the compliment. However, since I don't use Reunion's source scheme, so I'm of little or no help on this issue.
