Reunion slow to open following software upgrade

This week I upgraded my 2025 Apple Mac Mini (Apple M4 chip) to the Tahoe operating system (26.2). Since upgrading I have noticed a time lag - perhaps 10 to 15 seconds - when opening Reunion 14. Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone know of a solution?

Not me. By the way, Tahoe is now 26.3. (You thoroughly missed 26.2.1)
You might want to check how full your HD is. You need 10-15% free.

Thanks. Upgraded this morning to 26.3. Loads of capacity on HD - about 40%.

It's the OS (Tahoe 26.3) that's the problem. It's throttling my entire system (2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max, 32GB memory, Tahoe 26.3). Apple seems to have fallen behind. They just want you to purchase a new, faster Mac.

            I call BS!
Just how do you arrive at this absurd conclusion?

Wife has M1 16" MBP; I have M4 16" MBP. Both just as fast!

From the little said, I'm guessing that you have a memory issue on that MacBook. How much free space do you have? Have you cleared caches in frequently used apps? Do you restart the MacBook regularly? Restarting clears the caches on many apps. (I restart every Monday morning.) The size of 26.3, approx, 15 GB, is about the same as 26.0 to 26.3. Of course, it could be something totally different -- like I said, just guessing.

I'm also having this issue, with launch times in the 10-12 second range. I'm currently on Tahoe 26.3, but the problem has existed in all versions 26.1 and later (I never ran 26.0). Plenty of disk space, RAM, etc.

I profiled Reunion's launch using Instruments and found the app blocking twice for about 5.5 seconds each when the Open Recent menu is being built. On a hunch, I cleared the recent list (File Menu → Open Recent → Clear Menu) and I'm back launch times under 2 seconds. So give that a try, mikekillingley.

For the Leister developers: the delay is inside [NSDocumentController recentDocumentURLs] which is getting called inside [dcReunion recentFamilyFile] (which in turn is inside [dcReunion applicationDidFinishLaunching:]). Another thread is blocking in Core Foundation's CFURLCreateByResolvingBookmarkData, which is almost certainly the heart of the issue. Given that I saw two blocking delays, I'd guess I had two problematic items in my Recent menu, but I did not try to track down which particular ones were causing the problem. I suspect they pointed to a file that no longer exists, lives on an unmounted disk, has a security scope issue, etc., and the system is taking a long time trying to resolve the bookmark.
