I've ordered a new MacBook. I'm going to install everything manually, vs restoring from my Time Machine. Is it better to restore a backup from Reunion on the new computer, or airdrop my Reunion folder to it?

Neither. Time Machine is a good second choice. And there is really no need to do things manually. First choice is direct Mac to Mac. Sit the old Mac next to the new one. Start from the new Mac -- it asks you which method. I've been doing this process with my Macs, my iPads and iPhones for several years. I want to do a clean install, and NOT restore from Time Machine.Comment

If I were doing a clean install, I'd prefer to manually copy all my data using an external usb drive.
That way, when I set up Time Machine on my new computer, there would be no co-mingling of stuff from the old one.
Just remember, if you're not using Migration Assistant, it will take you a long time to get all your applications reinstalled, all your settings and security adjusted, all your websites re-authenticated, etc.

Yep, it’s time consuming for sure, but preferable in my opinion.
