Any suggestions for what fields to use when setting up a template for citing Wills? I'm not looking to go as deep as in Evidence Explained but something that "fits well" into Reunions' format.
Fields for Will Template

The basic template for Wills in Reunion 14 contains these fields:
Title
File Number
Register
Location of Source.
Following Evidence a bit more closely, but not too deep, I suggest the following:
Author (whose will it is)
Date (date of will)
Date (date will was filed/probated)
Book (will book number)
Volume (will book volume)
Page (will book pages)
Repository (where will was filed)
Address (of repository)
To clarify the use of the fields, consider adding the following labels to the fields in the template:
Author - "Will of "
Date (first occurrence)- "Dated "
Date (second occurrence) - "Probate "
Book - "Will Book "
Volume - "Volume "
Page - "Page "
The resulting citations would look like this:
Will of Sam Jones, Dated 07-Jun-1900, Probate 30-Jun-1900, Will Book G, Volume 7, Page 356, Register of Wills, City Hall Room 180, Philadelphia, PA 19107Last edited by martinr; 14 October 2026, 09:27 AM.

Update ... Yikes ... it appears that in order to have a field label apply exclusively in one template you would need to create template-specific fields. Applying a label to a generic field such as Author, Date, Book, Volume, Page, etc, would result in the label appearing for that field in all templates where the field is used.
In the example I gave earlier, you may need to create new fields like these and use them just in your Will Template ...
Will author
Will date
Will probate
Will Book
Will Volume
Will Page
Will Repository

Because I'm old, I still get a little antsy about using spaces in field names. So, I would feel more comfortable using something like camelCase:
wiAuthor
wiDate
wiProbate
wiVolume
etc.

I understand your concern and preference and appreciate the suggestion. It would certainly work.
Reunion does have many built-in fields that include spaces. I have used Reunion since Reunion 9 and have never encountered any problems with the built-in fields.Last edited by martinr; 27 October 2026, 04:31 PM.
