Source Template Issue

I'm stumped. I'm sure this is something obvious that I'm overlooking, but here it is.

I am in the process of reentering all my sources in freeform format.

The only template field I have added to the freeform source in settings is a title field. But it is not appearing when I add a new source. I have to manually add the title field each time.

You can see in the first image there is no title field in the upper box.

In the second image, you can see that I have added a title field to the Freeform Source template.

What step am I overlooking?

For the record, I duplicated the freeform template and added those fields, and it works fine with the new template. Is my original freeform template corrupt?

The built-in Free Form template is semi-protected. Notice that you cannot "Remove Free Form" from the Source Templates list. For some reason, though, it accepts and stores edits in its settings even though they will not be used.

As you have found, you need an unprotected version to start with, either by clicking "Add Template" or "Duplicate Free Form". Normally, both would give the same result - a basic free form layout awaiting your edits (all templates get the free-form text section). However, your Title field was already linked to some degree with the Free Form template, so your duplicate came with the Title field you wanted already attached. I would delete the Title field from the original Free Form just to avoid confusion in the future.
