    Find and Replace

Will a global find and replace of a surname replace all names, as well as the name in sources/citations?

    #2
You can set Find and Replace to operate on whatever people and fields you want. Check out the settings in the images below. Replacements in person/family fields and in source fields are two separate operations. Source citation detail, media descriptions, and media comments seem to be the only fields that don't participate.

    A few notes:

When filtering for marked people, only one person in the couple has to be marked to enable family text replacement.

Quotes and smart quotes are different characters, so if you have entered words or names with an apostrophe (e.g. O'Reilly, D'Angelo) and have since changed the smart quotes setting, copy/paste what you have into the Find field instead of typing.

I recommend that when learning a Reunion feature you first export a portion of your research to a test family file where you can explore freely. When you are ready to proceed with changes that cannot be undone, work on a copy of your family file instead of the original.

Thank you. I had no problem using the feature, but I had to do it in parts. I didn’t ask my question right
