      I used the solution provided online:

      Using Built-in OS Tools (Mac Preview) On a Mac, open Preview and use File > Export > PDF/Quartz Filter > Encrypt to set a password.

        On my system (Tahoe 26.2), the option is not “Encrypt” but “Permissions”
