    Text Issue In Report

When I create an Ancestor Report the text in Notes prints all wonky. Words have spaces in them or spaces are not there running words together. I tried using Text Tool, it still has the same output. I tried copying text and converting to plain text in a text editor and still get the exact and I mean identical results, so it would appear to be the way Reunion is creating the report. Anyone have any ideas?

Hmm...my first thought would be that this may have something to do with the fonts being selected, both in Reunion and in your word processor. (I.e., what font is the text in the Notes fields? And, what font is the text when opened in your word processor?)

Also, it may be helpful to know what macOS is running on your Mac and what word processor is being used.

    Thanks

Yes, this might be a corrupted font. Another possibility is a print driver problem or drum problem (laser only). It also could be a corrupted print driver. Approach should be to install a fresh copy of the font and/or the driver. A rather rare possibility is an out of round drum in a laser printer. jcherepy didn't specify laser or inkjet.

It's not a hardware printer problem. I create the report, open in Pages and the text is messed up. I'm using my Mac desktop running the latest MacOS. I have copied text into the Text Edit app converted to plain text, not RTF and pasted back in with the same result. Using the default font in Reunion. I never made any changes. Just now I tried the same thing on my brand new MacBook, same results. If it is a font problem how do I fix?

Using the Font Book app. You should find this app in your Applications folder. Here is an article for a start point for more info: https://support.apple.com/guide/font...62/11.0/mac/26.

Pick two or three people that exhibit this text problem and mark them in Reunion.

Then choose File > Export > Reunion Family File and select the "Marked people and their spouses" option - no sources, no media and no logs. Click Export.

This will create a very small family file of just the marked people with this problem.

Create a report with this small family file to see if the text problem is still present. If it is, send a copy of the small family file to help@leisterpro.com.

I did as you asked, but neither of my email apps will attach the created file. They think it's a folder. This is turning out to be too much trouble and I think I'm going to give up and look for a different genealogy app.

A family file is a package, but if you're using Apple's Mail app, sending a family file should not be a problem.

If you're using something other than Apple's Mail you may need to create and send a .zip archive of the family file.

See this page for more information about sending family files...

OK, as a test, I copied the offending text and pasted into the Apple TextEdit app and saved as Plain text. I then transferred via Google Drive to a Linux PC and opened in the default Text Editor. changed the line spacing and saved as text file. Transferred back to MAC and opened in TextEdit, copied and pasted back into Reunion. Created a report and this text is even worse than before, so it seems Reunion doesn't like the character set.

I've done some further testing. I created a gedcom and created a new family file and imported the gedcom, ran a report and the Wednesday gap is gone and all text is correct. So the text in the original even though it looks "good" has something invisible that effects the output in reports.

This time I copied the correctly formatted text from the Pages report and pasted into Reunion, ran a report and the odd spacing, etc, was there. I appears the notes field is keeping some type of odd formating not visible to the naked eye. Maybe? Oh, and I tried changing the Note font to Ariel, same results. Still plugging away.

I found what was wrong. I had the same text in Misc Note and Death Memo, but the Memo text was messed up and that what was printed in the report in Pages. I fixed the Memo field and the report looks good. Sorry for the waste bandwidth.
