Marking Maternal/Paternal Ancestors bug ?

a) Starting with MYSELF

b) using Mark (side panel), Maternal Ancestors, 33 generations, all boxes checked except Descendants (last box)

It Marks my Mother (and Father), her Parents, my maternal GM's Parents, BUT NOT HER PATERNAL ANCESTORS ???

Am I misunderstanding what "Maternal Ancestors" means ? Shouldn't this just be ALL my Mother's ancestors ???

It does the same thing with other people. If I start with my Mother, and choose just Ancestors, it does Mark the missing people.

"Maternal Ancestors" means mothers of mothers of mothers. (I.e., the female ancestors.)

am I the only one who doesn't use "maternal" that way ? I wish it was called something else .......

I have the choice: Ancestors / Paternal Ancestors / Maternal Ancestors. If I opt for Ancestors, all ancestors are marked. If I opt for Paternal, only the direct male line is marked. If I opt for Maternal, only the direct female line is marked. That is just fine for me and looks logical as far as I am concerned.

"Maternal Ancestors" means mothers of mothers of mothers. (I.e., the female ancestors.)

Every one of us have maternal grandfathers, maternal uncles and aunts, etc. Likewise, we all have paternal grandmothers, aunts and uncles, etc.

This usage of maternal or paternal is simply to denote which side one is speaking of.... one's mother's ancestors and relatives or one's father's ancestors and relatives.
