Create New Family File with Settings from a previous one

I would like to create a new family file with all the preferences from a current one, including views and source templates. Is there a way to do this without having to reinvent the wheel. I searched the forum, but didn't see anything that was applicable.

Before you do the steps below, make a backup of your current family file.

Open your existing family file with all your custom views, source templates, chart style, etc
Use File->Export. In the export dialog exclude people, source, media.
Save that export file (call e.g. MyPrefs).
You now have an empty file with all the preferences.
