Cannot enter parents

I am trying to enter the parents of a male ancestor. The box just blinks at me when I click, but won't open to enter information.

PS. The female side (i.e. wife) opens just fine.

Has the male ancestor been entered yet? If not, you need to enter whatever you know in order to make the parents level become available.
