update chart entry from family file errors probs.
When I try to right click to update a box from family file on my large chart, the info doesn't match the entry, comes up with other impossible dates (in my case 1852 for a mid 20th century couple). Also it won't let me reformat the text inside the box as I used to, so I have to update manually to do this anyway to make a tidy box. Any thoughts on this?

The update feature for boxes in a chart is not perfect. It will not add a spouse if a spouse has been added since the chart was made. Nor will it add new boxes to include children that have been added to the family since the chart was made. Also, if you have merged either of the spouses with, let us say, duplicates that were found since the chart was made, the update may put a totally different name in there or UNNAMED in its place.
It seems the update really only does the data pertaining to the person or people that were in the box when the chart was made. That has been my experience and I have done it thousands of times.
What you are currently doing is probably what you have to do. -
