Privacy filtering settings

I am in a quandary. I am doing a family history report (using iPages). I have the report set to ”Use Privacy Filtering”. Why do some of the children’s parents say “Father” and Mother”, and some of them say, “Father” and “Parent”, some of them say, “Parent” and Mother” and some say “Parent and Parent”?

Since the Privacy Filter is being used, living people (or those otherwise considered to be Private) are noted as "Parent" and the non-living are noted as "Father" or "Mother."
