Customized, Personalized, Duplicate Views

Using Reunion 13 on iMac running Mojave.
Not understanding Customized Template, Personalized View and Duplicate. Want to create a template with all my preferences and be able to use that template whenever I create a new family. No success doing that. I've created My View within a Family, but that view does not appear as a selection when I create a New Family. Tedious to go through the whole process of creating My View each time I add a family.

I believe you can use a duplicate of an existing family file with all the people deleted: it will match for layout etc. But why would you wish to do this? Most experienced users keep everything in the one file (unless working on a truly unrelated tribe).

Another option here...

You can drag your custom Family View from the list of Family Views (in the Family View Preferences window) out to your Desktop.

Then you can drag that family view file from the Desktop into the same list in the other family files.
