How to turn off automatic capitalization in name fields

    Hello.
I have a name entered: Daniel Patterson, sen., the latter field which has been automatically capitalized to "Sen." Similarly, "Levina or Lavinia" has changed to "Levina Or Lavinia."
I have checked my Mac OS preferences, and auto capitalization of first letters is turned off.
How can I remedy this, please?
    regards,
    Alison Kilpatrick
    - running Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro.

There's checkbox in the screen where you are entering the names for "Initial Caps"

You can check or uncheck that.

The other possibility if you can remember at the time is to hold down the Option key while you tab out of a field - so your example - type

    Levina or Lavinia

then hold down Option while you tab to the next field - that overrides the Initial Caps setting and leaves the "or" as you entered it.
