    Searching for File gets Stuck

    I found that I have a lot of multimedia files "lost." Don't know why. Most of them I just click to open the person's multimedia page and double click on one photo and they all clear up. Then I can do the same with the spouse since they are usually lost also. However, occasionally I get a photo for which I have no matching file name. I probably changed it somewhere along the line, but sometimes the file name is correct. This should be easy to fix, but Reunion goes into a perpetual search and never gives up. The only way I can proceed is to Force Quit and start again. This works just fine, but is a total waste of time and I can't get rid of the offending file or "fix" it.

    What do you have listed under Multimedia Search Folders in:

    Reunion -> Preferences... , Mutlimedia

    Usually when Reunion seems to get "stuck" searching for missing items, it's because the folders it's setup to search through have a large number of files in them, which means it can take a long time for Reunion to search through everything. Often this is the result of something like your entire Home folder (shown as "~/" in this list) being in that list.

    You should be able to remove it by clicking once on it in the Multimedia sidebar, then clicking the red minus (-) icon at the bottom of that sidebar. If you only click once to select the missing item, Reunion shouldn't go searching for it.

    Or, you could go to:

    Reports / Multimedia Usage

    And drag the correct file onto the appropriate missing item in that list.

      Sorry to bother. It turns out that this happens mostly where there are a lot of photos attached to an individual. The only problem is my impatience! If I let it run it eventually does the job...so no problem after all. Love Reunion!!

        Thank you so much. Your suggestions were spot-on and I now have a daunting mess cleaned up. The mess was definitely due to my own fault. I had good reason to change file names, but never thought about what it would do to Reunion's multimedia. All fixed now.
