button preferred picture greyed out

Ik added two pictures to a marriage. I wanted one of them to be the preferred picture. so I right-clicked the picture and found the preferred picture button greyed out. what is wrong?

I can think of two possibilities:

1. Does this picture appear in the "Family Multimedia" section...

...of the Multimedia sidebar?

Family Multimedia cannot be labeled as Preferred.

If that is the case, you can move it to a "person's" section of the Multimedia sidebar. Then, you can make it a Preferred picture.

2. Also, if you double-click on the picture and it opens in the Media window, perhaps you will see that the "Treat as Document" box...

"Treat as document" pictures cannot be labeled as Preferred.

If that is the case, uncheck the box. Afterward, you will be able to make it a Preferred picture.

I hope something mentioned is helpful for you in making that picture a Preferred picture
