    Merging books?

I understand you cannot make a book with all the persons in the database. It makes some sense from a genealogy point of view.

However, I would like to include some side branches containing grandparents and great-grandparents. So I have prepared two additional books. Is there a way to merge these with the main book?

You can drag sections out of one book and into another -- drag a section from the Sections list on the left of the Book Project window out to your Desktop, then drag the file created on your desktop into the Sections list of the other book.

Thanks, Mark, but that didn't work:
The only section thatI could drag to the desktop was the front cover. Also, none of the other sections could be "exported".

So my workaround was to make PDFs from my ancillary books and then I could incorporate the PDFs into my main book by creating sections from these files. However, the (internal) links in the PDF did not function any more after importing the PDF in the main book.

Also, the link to one of these PDFs was working in the new compiled book, but got lost after creating the global PDF. The link to the second PDF was operational, though.

      Quite a struggle...

As I did not find the way to combine or merge books, I combined the PDFs. This is somewhat tedious, but here is the method for those interested:

        Create main book (33 MB)
Create PDF from main book: 748 MB
Reduce size of PDF with Acrobat Pro: 15.1 MB

        Create second book (51 MB)
Create PDF from second book: 312 MB
Reduce size of PDF with Acrobat Pro: 4.1 MB

        Create third book (23 MB)
Create PDF from second book: 645 MB
Reduce size of PDF with Acrobat Pro: 9.6 MB

Create final PDF with Acrobat, combining the above three
        Final size: 18.4 MB

The final result has an acceptable definition (pictures) and the internal links work inside each component PDF, but I was not able to create a table of contents embracing the whole.

The link to the final PDF is https://www.dropbox.com/s/zo7qoiq6jo...arbey.pdf?dl=0

Note to all who don't have Acrobat Pro nor want to invest in same.... This can be done with Preview.
