Error data in occupation / education fields

[My first post - I hope I am doing it correctly?

I have recently upgraded from Reunion 12 to 13.
I am now finding, in quite a lot of records, that there are strange 'things' in the education and occupation fields. They comprise @N23@ or @N250@ with the numbers varying between two-digit or three-digit numbers. but always having the @N??N. I've attached a screen shot.
When checking back to my Reunion 12 file, the fields could have been empty (as in the attached) or have data entered.

    Has anyone else found this?
Has anyone any suggestions for a way to find & list them all, so I can change them?

    Thanks for any insight.
    Natalie

    Hi Natalie,

When you upgraded to Reunion 13, did you export a GEDCOM from 12 and import that into Reunion 13? The data you're seeing in the Occupation and Education field (@N[number]@) are indicative of a GEDCOM file.

I would recommend you re-convert from 12 to 13 using this steps in this FAQ -- basically, use Reunion 13 to open the Reunion 12 family file (don't export a GEDCOM file) in order to convert it.

Let us know if the problem persists when following those steps.

    Thanks,

      Hi Mark
Yes, I believe I did export a GEDCOM from 12 and import it into 13.
I'll follow the FAQ you advise and let you know.

I've done loads of work in my 13 file since upgrading - is it going to be possible to merge my current 13 file with a new one I create by following the FAQ instructions?

      Many thanks,
      Natalie

There are a couple options here:

1 -- You could use File -> Change Log to view a list of the changes that have been made in the original 13 file, then manually enter those changes into the newly converted file.

2 -- You could mark the people that were changed or added (again, using the Change Log to get a list of them), then import them into the newly converted file via File -> Import -> Reunion Family File... and either merge them (e.g. via the "easy merge" method - outlined in the manual) if they are duplicates (entries that existed before the upgrade to 13), or link the imported entries with existing entries where appropriate.

Thanks Mark - that's very helpful, I will take a look at the change log.

Converting the Reunion 12 files to 13 seems to have worked fine (as it should do!), and for all the people I have looked at so far, I have not seen the (@N[number]@) error at all.

          Thank you very much,
          Natalie
