    Entering Places in Events

    Hi Everyone
When I enter the name of a place in any of the events fields, eg birth, the first 3 or 4 letters vanish as I type. For example, when I type "Liverpool", I get "rpool" and I have to retype the first letters again. It is happening for every event field I have in my Family View.

I have just noticed, it is not only events where the problem is, it is all fields.

      Hi Jan,
I have noticed the same problem but only found out after I go searching for a name and notice the first part is missing. To overcome this I now wait until the blank space is fully open and then insert the name properly before going onto the next entry.
I believe its because I was typing in too quickly. Possibly due to Bluetooth keyboard??

Are both of you using battery operated keyboards? What you describe sounds like a battery being on its last legs.

          Hi Bob,
Mine is the B/T keyboard that came with iMac (late 2015 27") has a built - in battery system and is charged about once evry 6 weeks. Lasts a long time but the mouse needs more frequent charging. As I mentioned, I noticed that when entering a name into a new entry, that sometimes I typed away only to find the first 3 letters didn't take. slowing down my action(s) has all but corrected this problem.

This is something we're looking to fix in the next update - it seems if you type too fast into an empty field after clicking in it (as opposed to tabbing into it), the first few characters you type get selected and are replaced by the next few characters you type.

For now, the workaround is as Alan noted - basically, wait a second or two after clicking in the text field before you begin typing. While somewhat inconvenient for fast typists, it will avoid the issue until the fix is released.

Thanks, every, one. Yes, I am a rapid typist and have noticed that, if I pause before entering the information the problem is resolved. Who knew?
Thanks Mark, too, for letting us know the team is looking into it.

This and other references to tweaks persuade me that maintenance or bug-fix updates have been coming out recently without my being offered them. Why would that be? How do I ask for them?

Your Reunion checks for updates at best once a week. You can manually check more often by using the Help menu ------> Check for Update.
