    Hyperlink

I use website urls as part of the citation in source detail fields to provide a path to the record being cited. Some of these urls are very long, I would like to be able to a create a short hyperilnk connected to the url to make it shorter and neater. ie,a one or two word link would be linked and would take you to the record. I can do this easily in a word processor but when I transfer the linked word to Reunion, it no longer connects to the url it was linked to. Is there some way of doing this that I am missing?
    Thanks,
    Bob

I wonder if TinyURL! would work? You'd probably have to use a web browser and go to the linked page before using TinyURL!

For those who haven't heard of TinyURL! it takes a long URL like this: https://www.reuniontalk.com/forum/us...2325-hyperlink and converts it to a shorter link like this: https://tinyurl.com/y2fjwjh8

      Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your response. I have been doing this. Currently using bitly. Can't remember what shortener I was using prior to this but it gave me shortened URLs such as https://ancstry.me/2V4RkLp. When i plugged it in, I got the following warning: Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead. No such problem with bitly.

My concern is if this should happen again and all my shortened URLs have to be redone. For that reason, I was looking at using a hyperlink by which a single word could be made into a hyperlink to go directly to the full URL. I can do this in my word processing program where a single word can be linked to a full URL and simply clicking on it takes you to the linked URL. This option does not seem to be available in Reunion unless I'm missing something. For now I continue to use the URL shortener.

      Thanks,
      Bob

Ah, I see. I did a search of the Reunion 12 manual for "hyperlink" but nothing was found. Your word processor most likely has the "Add link" feature built in as does just about all modern word processors, email and forum/BBS programs as here with vBulletin. Genealogy programs haven't had enough demand for it yet, though. You may want to add it as a request over on the "Wish List".

Yes, this! I like the idea of being able to create a hyperlink from a word or two. However, I have had issues just getting hyperlinks into my reports. Once I generate a report the link is disabled. So improvements here would be great.
