Merge person problem

I had James with daughter Jane and another James with daughter Jane, then figured out they were duplicates. I merged the Janes, then merged the James's. Now Jane shows up as James' daughter as I hoped, but when I click on Jane in the family view, she appears with no father. Adding James from the sidebar doesn't work.

I have had a similar problem but the wy I overcame it, was to drag the father's name from the people sidebar to the space above her card where her father should appear. It should then produce a window saying "...do you wish to add...." or something similar.
