Creating New family file

In order that I don't screw up my main file, I'd like to create a more extensive family file of a family name. How do I copy the few original names on my master file to the new family file? And will husbands and kids transfer as well?

Do you want to create a new family file that contains all of the data in your current family file, or just a subset of that data?
