    Gedcom

I have 2 GEDCOM questions. I only have the Reunion 12 demo version.

    1. If I GEDCOM a file out using Reunion 12 and then create a new file using the GEDCOM will I loose any data? If so what and is there a way to prevent it?

    2. If I GEDCOM a file out using Reunion 12 and then create a new file will the sources in the new file be free formatted or will they be use the template they were created with?

    Thanks
    Roger

If you are going out of Reunion 12, and then importing into Reunion 12, you would be better to use Marked Cards to get the data that you want to transfer transferred.

If you have customised any of the Sources/Source Templates in your Reunion 12 file, you can save an empty copy of that file by File ------> Export ------> Reunion Family File and choose No People, No Sources, No Multimedia - this will create an empty file with all the field structures still intact.

If you're exporting to a specific other program or something, you might be able to tailor how you export it in the settings. More generally, Reunion is not the most GEDCOM friendly program out there--but it is wonderfully adaptable: there are lots of things you can do within the program to change your file to make it much more GEDCOM compliant.
