I am having trouble getting a response when clicking an item in the right side panel no matter whether it is set for people, sources or clipboard. Sometimes it is fine, but most times I have to click up to 5 or 6 times to get a response. Suggestions? Thank you.

Are you using a wireless mouse? If so, it probably needs a fresh battery. What you are describing is precisely what one gets when the battery is about to die.
