    Source usage report

I have created a source usage report but can not work out what the double asterisk is and the 'family' reference. I can not find an explanation in the manual.

The double asterisk is just a separator between the first series of occurrences (individuals) and the second series (families)

So a line item in the usage report may look like:
    48912 Person 67944, 68274, 68275 ** Family 31399

That means that sources 48912 is used for 1 or more citations for individuals 67944, 68274 and 68275, and it is also used in 1 or more citations in Family number 31399 (eg. for Marriage, Divorce or other events related to the couple).
