Search for Soundex + given name

Is it possible to search for a person (or persons) using their Soundex code with a given name?
Using Soundex to search for variants of a name works beautifully, but it will only give a list of all the people with that particular Soundex code.
I need to search for "L355, John", which would give me all the variants with the given name of John. But this doesn't seem to work in the search box. Am I missing something?
The only workaround seems to be to open a list window of all the Soundex names, and then sort it by given name, but this is a bit tedious.

This search has just worked for me with no problems...

Ah, the cavalry arrived! Thank you very much Roger - I was entering "M130, John" in the search column, didn't think of doing a specific search. Also I didn't notice the Soundex option in the Condition field. Heartfelt thanks.

Keep in mind that Soundex doesn't always find variant spellings. My surname comes in two spelling variants, Darveaux and Darveau. There is one letter difference and they are pronounced exactly the same but they have different Soundex codes.

It's also possible to search on just the first part of a Soundex. For example: Soundex starts with "D61".

Yes, that's a problem in that Soundex seems to have been built for Anglo-Saxon names only.

Yep... From Wikipedia: "Soundex is a phonetic algorithm for indexing names by sound, as pronounced in English. The goal is for homophones to be encoded to the same representation so that they can be matched despite minor differences in spelling." Emphasis on "as pronounced in English" It's the last letter: "u' gets ignored thus gets a value of 0 while the "x" has a value of 2.
