    Source Citation Details in Book

I have never used the Book function of Reunion, but would like to. But I have an issue that I don’t know if I can resolve. It stems from my not using Source Citation Details in the way it was probably intended. I very seldom group sources, for example, I use a new source for each page of a census record, so I seldom have need to enter a page number, etc, into the Source Citation Detail field.

Instead I use it to record the exact bit of information I got from a particular source. If I found conflicting information on a birth year, I enter the year into the detail field for the source I found it in. This lets me see at a glance where I got the detail and judge how reliable it is. An example is below, where I have two different birth years for Fravolina Orsi.

This works very well for me—until I want to create a book. If I include sources, the source number appears as a superscript, along with any text I’ve entered into the Source Citation Detail field. Below is the example for Fravolina Orsi.

I know I could create a register report and edit this out in Pages, but then I lose the beautiful layout in the book format. Other than redoing my database to eliminate the text in the detail field, which would make it much less useful to me, is there a work-around; maybe a report preference I’ve overlooked?

    Thanks for you input!

    Hi Kim,

    Go to:

Reunion -> Preferences... , Reports, Sources

And set "Citation detail" to either "With Endnotes" or "Ignore", whichever you prefer. The former will put the citation detail in the source list (instead of beside the superscript citation number), while the former will exclude the citation detail from the report.
