In Reunion 11, I was able to search my Source records for "arkivverket.no" and it would find 131 sources. In Reunion 12 the same search turns up nothing! (I know they're still there) What is going on?

Re: Sources search not behaving as expected
In Reunion 12 we changed the source search to be a “starts with” (as opposed to the old “contains” method) search, meaning it looks at the beginning of words when you search (like when searching for a person in the People sidebar).
I’m guessing you’re searching for a URL which actually “starts with” “http://“ or “http://www.”, but “contains” your search parameters.
We are considering adding an option to use the previous “contains” search. You might see that option in the next build.

Could you perhaps make it so that it's still "Starts with", but allows the use of a wildcard soOriginally posted by Mark View PostIn Reunion 12 we changed the source search to be a “starts with” (as opposed to the old “contains” method) search, meaning it looks at the beginning of words when you search (like when searching for a person in the People sidebar).

Starts with *arkivverket.no would find it no matter where in the string it was.

Yes, please! I'd suggest using the same approach Safari does, where clicking on the magnifying glass pops up a menu.Originally posted by Mark View PostWe are considering adding an option to use the previous “contains” search. You might see that option in the next build.

I love Roger's idea of allowing wildcards, but I think supporting them only at the beginning of the search field would be confusing. Full wildcard support (i.e.: allowing searches for "*cards" or "wild*" or even "wi*ds") would be awesome.Brad Mohr

Interesting. I do not see that feature in Safari (Version 11.0.2). When I click on the magnifying glass icon it displays a list of search engines and matches from my browsing history.Originally posted by bmohr View PostI'd suggest using the same approach Safari does, where clicking on the magnifying glass pops up a menu.

Thank you, Mark, for your explanation. I had previously lobbied for a better search methodology in the Sources window, when I posted to the "Wish List" forum on 11 Dec 2016 ("Wish List: better search engine for List-Sources"). I am disappointed that the Reunion 12 methodology isn't anywhere close to what I had in mind. To summarize, I suggested making it more like the Find feature or enabling boolean operators like AND and OR.

That pop-up menu doesn't appear in the combined address/search field, but rather in the "find in page" field. Open a web page and type command-F. A new search bar appears just below the tab bar with the field I was referring to.Originally posted by Bruce Christopher View PostInteresting. I do not see that feature in Safari (Version 11.0.2). We uploaded a new build of Reunion 12 that will allow you to choose between a "starts with" and a "contains" search in the Sources sidebar and the Sources List window.Originally posted by bmohr View PostI'd suggest using the same approach Safari does, where clicking on the magnifying glass pops up a menu.
To make sure you have the latest build of Reunion 12, choose Help > Check for Updates from Reunion 12's main menubar.
Click on the "Show" popup menu to the left of the search text and select either "starts with" or "contains" in the popup.Gregg Witmer

Looks great! The "Show" menu is the perfect place for this setting.Originally posted by Gregg View PostWe uploaded a new build of Reunion 12 that will allow you to choose between a "starts with" and a "contains" search in the Sources sidebar and the Sources List window.Brad Mohr
