Substituting Baptism for Birth

In Preferences > Fields > Birth I have selected 'Baptism' in the box at the bottom that has "If no birth date exists substitute ... " however it doesn't seem to work. (I assume this is a global substitution, not specific to one person/couple/family?).

I would like it to appear in the normal family view but I think it only comes into play in a chart, but even then it doesn't seem to substitute for me. What am I doing wrong please?

I have the same problem. While I realise that birth and baptismal dates can differ wildly, the feature mentioned would be useful when sorting the order of children, and calculating ages.

You are doing nothing wrong. We can duplicate this and are looking into it.
