    Edit Parents

The manual says "The other method for removing parents is to choose Parents -> Edit Parents from the Person menu button (the little triangle in every button), highlight the parents you wish to remove, and click the Remove Parents button."

The little triangle in the button reveals a list that includes Parents. The Parents arrow brings up the father and mother of the individual, but no "Highlight" or "Edit". When the arrow is released the family view changes to the father and mother couple, but does not remove them. What am I doing wrong?

This method only applies when a person has more than one set of parents. (Is a child on more than one family card.)

Is that the case you are dealing with, or is this a person who only has one set of parents?

      Teri:

This occurs with any Family View I try.

My Reunion family file includes all individuals in a single file. With the demise on 30 June of my Mac web pages, which I last updated on 4 July 2009, I need to recreate and update at a new ISP my site which has 4 separate genealogies for the parents of my wife and myself. See http://homepage.mac.com/deltalimemike/Menu71.html

To do that I have to temporarily break the links between the four parents and their spouses, create Web pages for each lineage, and then relink the four parents. In 2009 that was easy to do using the method described in the 2009 manual. Now, as I noted previously, Reunion does not do what the v.10 manual says to do, so I need to know if I or Reunion are mistaken.

But from your example, I do not see any person who is attached to multiple sets of parents. (Perhaps it is there somewhere and I'm just not looking at the right part of the tree.)

So the method described in the original post would not apply. The "Edit Parents" method only applies if a specific person is directly linked to multiple sets of parents, such as when someone has both adoptive parents and birth parents, or natural parents and foster parents, etc. And as soon as you unlink them from one of those sets, leaving them with only one remaining pair of parents, it would not apply for unlinking them from that last set of parents.

This is very similar to the "Edit Spouses" workflow, which only works for sorting, prioritizing, and unlinking spouses for someone who has more than one spouse. As soon as someone is linked to only one spouse, you can't use Edit Spouses to detach them anymore.
