    Filter names in sidebar

When I display a list of names, sometimes I just want the portion for those having first name beginning with a certain letter. Listing SMITH, A not only gives me SMTH, Adam but SMITH, Mary Ann. I don't want Mary Ann.

Yes, I know I could do Find but that takes me away from the list and adds multiple extra steps (I'm doing for each letter there is a first name for, for example).

    Is there a better method?

I actually now tried FIND: Surname + First name starts with "A" and still got names where the middle name started with A, not the first. Which is what I need.

Try this: Set "First & Mid Name" to "Field Starts With"; this search will deliver what you are looking for.

Thanks, it now works. Don't know the difference of the two options.
