    Changing a "Narrative Form"

Hi! I'd like to change the narrative form of a census event from "He was on the census in 1940 for Greene Co., VA" to "He appeared on the 1940 census in Greene Co., VA" for better readability in my family history documents.

I've looked in the "Field Preferences" dialog box and it seems like there are only pre- formatted arrangements for narrative form. Is there any way to create a new one to match my preferences? The original is Sex Verb Date Place; I'd like it to be Sex Verb Date Place, but with some different wording.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Re: Changing a "Narrative Form"

In Event Preferences for the Census Event, the Narrative Form fields:

    - Verb: 'Was on the census'
    - Place: 'for'

can be edited to give the sentence structure you want.

Thanks for your swift reply, Mervyn. I've edited the wording six ways from Sunday, but can't seem to get what I'd like because there are non-editable prepositions in the (generous!) array of arrangements.

I was hoping there was a way to add an additional arrangement to the list of predefined ones, one that would parse the Date field and allow me to place it before "census" without the predefined prepositions.

      Appreciatively,
