FamilySearch Event vs. Fact

I was editing a relative in FamilySearch and wanted to update their religious affiliation. It was listed under the EVENTS section. It struck me as being listed in the wrong section. IMHO, religious affiliation should be listed in the FACTS section. I understand that certain religious "things" such as confirmations, christenings, bar mitzvahs, and other "happenings" like that should be listed as EVENTS.

So why, in FamilySearch, is religious affiliation an EVENT and not a fact?

Was there a date with it?

No date on the religious affiliation. Just a denomination. If there were a date, I would think that it (should) qualify as an event.
