Has anyone here, who works with French Canadian data, ever used, or heard of, the BALSAC database? It a population file that has more the 4 million records about nearly 5 million individuals covering from the founders to contemporary times. As far as I can tell, it is only available to scientific researchers who are associated with research institutions. I heard about it from an article titled "On the genes, genealogies, and geographies of Quebec." (Luke Anderson-Trocme, et al.) in the 26 May 2023 issue of Science magazine.
