    Global field name change

I've been using the event called Baptism, but want to change this field name to Christening while retaining the dates I've entered. Any ideas about how to do this most effectively? Thanks-

There is already a field called "Christen".
You can move everything in your Baptism field to this field. Search for "move" in the manual and it will give you instructions. Try it on a copy of your sample file first to see.

The field is called "Christen" but you can change that to "Christening" if you like in Reunion/Preferences/Fields/Person/Events

In theory you could just change the name of the Baptism field to Christening, but then it would have the wrong gedcom tag and abbreviations etc. for reports. You should just move the Baptism data to the Christen field.

These are the instructions in the manual for MOVE:

This feature will move data from one field to another, for all people. Basically, the entries are "cut" from one field and then "pasted" via appending to another field.

To move information from one field to another for every record in your family file...

    Choose Reunion > Preferences.
    Click the Fields button.
    Click the Move button.
Click the Person button or Family button to show the correct type of fields.
Click the From person/family field button and choose the field from which you want to move information (the source field).
Click the To button and choose the destination field.
Click the Move button. A final warning will appear.
Information will be moved out of the From field and into the To field. The data that is moved will be cleared from the From field and appended to the To field.
