    dropbox not syncing?

    hi all
Just upgraded to v.12. I've confirmed that Dropbox is online and syncing, however, my new version 12 family file is not appearing in Dropbox either on the desktop or in the app. Is there a way to force-sync the file?
    thanks
    Robin

It sounds like you will need to "move" your version 12 family file into Dropbox on your Mac. Information on how to do so can be found here...

    ...and in this video...

I hope you find this information helpful

      hi Deb

Thanks for this. It worked, however with Reunion 11 there was also a copy of my family file on my hard drive. That's no longer the case, and dropbox won't let me keep a copy there for some reason. I'll have to figure that out, as I don't trust dropbox with my only copy of my family file.

      cheers

Your Dropbox folder is actually on your hard drive. However, if you'd like to keep another copy in a different location on your computer, you may do so by opening your Dropbox folder in your Finder.

One way to do that is to click on the little black Dropbox icon at the top of your monitor. Then, select the "folder" to the right of "Recent Files" in the window that drops down.

Then, press and hold the "Option" key on your keyboard as you drag your family file onto your Desktop. And, from that location, you may move it to your desired location. (However, please do not use that copy of the family file as changes made in it will not sync with ReunionTouch.)

While Deb's suggestion is OK, if you are not already doing regular backup of your Mac, you should be and that, of course, will include backup of the local Dropbox folder. Time Machine works just fine for this purpose. And external hard drives are inexpensive. I also do a copy unto a flash drive a couple times monthly; flash drive lives in my car which is parked outdoors and unlikely to suffer the same fate as my house.

Also, please note that you already have one backup -- the copy that is on the Dropbox server.
