    Dropbox Vs iCloud

    Hi,

Just wondering if you can use iCloud to transfer data to Reunion Touch, or MUST it be Dropbox?

      Thank you for the reply.

Is there any chance that in an update to come we "may" be able to use icloud instead?

      Thank you.

        Hi John,

I don't ever say "never;" but we have no plans to pursue iCloud integration.

You'll notice that my profile picture hasn't much hair left. That's partly because iCloud fails for me every single day. I have to use it for my calendar, contacts, reminders, etc. so my devices will all play nice together. But not a day goes by without a problem of some sort.

By contrast, Dropbox has been incredibly solid. For a long time.

So that's why we built Reunion's sharing functions using Dropbox. In my experience (and in our experience) and for our purposes in Reunion/ReunionTouch, it's simply more reliable than iCloud.

And as advisors are apt to say: Mileage may vary!

I use iCloud constantly for the usual things like mail, calendar, Photos, Pages, Numbers, etc., between two Macs and three iOS devices plus I have maybe 15-20 apps that utilize iCloud to sync between devices and....

Yep... Very rarely do I have any problems.

However, I strongly support Leister's use of Dropbox. Apple keeps tinkering with the file structures in iCloud, thus causing lots of problems for apps like Reunion that use file location paths a lot. Dropbox, in the several years I've used it, has only made one or two minor changes to file structure. That makes it much more dependable for our app.
