    MacOS Mojave

Hello everyone. Has anyone upgraded to MacOS Mojave and put Reunion 12 through its paces? Have you encountered any problems? I would like to upgrade my computer's operating system, but I want to wait until someone can confirm that there are no major compatibility issues. If you have taken the plunge, please be so kind and report your experience here in this thread. Thanks.

Not ALL paces, but everything seems to work perfectly. (As expected)

I had a few glitches during the beta stage, but it seems to be working fine.

The only continuing problem I have is actually with searching on Ancestry where after a while the search box clears itself as you enter data. This I have found on both Firefox and Safari.

I had a warning that it would need updating but all is working.

Eveything appears OK with the upgrade.

But, the only item that I have noticed is when entering data for a person's birth date/place, and continue on to baptisms, the previous entry (birth date & place) appears to be greyed out.

When clicked "done" or return all resumes ancestry records normal.

Please make sure that you've updated to the latest version of Reunion 12. You can check that by opening Reunion 12 and selecting:

              Help -> Check for Updates...

If you're getting a warning that Reunion 12 would need updating you may still be running the old 32-bit version, instead of the current 64-bit version.

We are aware of this issue and are looking into it.

                  Re: MacOS Mojave

After upgrading to Mojave, my charts, previously created in Reunion 12, became all messed up. They now launch with all the boxes containing an ugly gray shading inside. I had designed the charts with a 3-point gray shadow around each box (which I think was the default). Through trial and error, I've discovered that if I now change the shadow color to white (the same as the background of the whole chart), the shading inside the box disappears. Alternatively, when I went to the Tree menu for the chart, and selected Colors, I discovered that each generation’s box had a gray shadow selected. If I changed that shadow to white, the shading also went away, although I had to do this one-by-one for each generation. (I use the Dark Borders preset, which repeats colors every 10 generations.) However, even when I am able to get my chart to look almost the way I want it on the screen (except without the 3-point shadow AROUND, but not inside, the boxes, which I seem to have to forego in order to get rid of the inside shading), it turns out that whenever I print, or open in Preview, or save as a PDF, the shading is still there, even though I can’t see it on the screen. I cannot get them to print or save as PDFs without all this ugly shading. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I am also going to email Reunion Technical Support, so that I can show them screenshots of what I mean.

Yes, after upgrading to Mojave, there is a grey overlay on the boxes in descendant charts. This is present even in charts created before upgrading to Mojave.

However, I haven't experimented with this, as I was too busy trying to make printing work once again; Mojave totally borked both my Canon printers.

Thanks, Dennis. This hadn't happened to me with charts created in High Sierra or earlier. And the charts I'm now looking at were created before I upgraded to Mojave. They looked fine, and printed fine, yesterday. It's only since the upgrade that the grey overlay appeared.

We are aware of the issue with charts. It’s caused by the box shadow being rendered inside the box (instead of only outside of the box border).

We have an update that fixes that issue, along with the greyed-out fields, in the pipeline.

Thanks, Mark. In the meantime, is there something I can do as a workaround? I tried to set all the shadow options to none, both for all the boxes and for the Colors in the Tree menu, but while this seems to fix the problem as I view the chart on the screen, it continues to appear all gray when I print or save the chart as a PDF. Is there some other option I also need to change? Thanks!

If you turn off the shadows, then save the chart as PNG, JPG, or TIFF, the resulting file won't have the shadow issue. Of course, that's not an ideal solution as those formats aren't nearly as high quality as PDF's - but until the update that fixes the issue is released, that's the only workaround.

Another workaround until a fix comes up : "select all" boxes in your chart and "Deselect" the "gradient" option on the left side bar. This will give you a slick screen and a clean PDF too...
