    Upgrading

Yesterday after making new entries (source, events, facts, notes) I shut down. Today booted computer up, opened reunion 12 and all that I entered yesterday is missing. Everything seemed fine yesterday after entering info.
First time I've changed or added anything since upgrading to 12.
Been using Reunion for a decade. Have I just done something crazy or has anyone else experienced such a thing?

    Re: Upgrading

It sounds as if you may have entered your new data to an older (or different) version of your family file. Is it possible that “yesterday” you launched your family file with Reunion 11 and made your changes before quitting. Then “today” your launched your Reunion 12 file and are looking at a different family file version.

Be aware that Reunion 12 will open a version 11 file and save it as a version 12 file but not delete your previous 11 version file. Thus you will have both versions sitting around.

So double-click both versions of your family file and see if one or the other has your changes.

Thanks for the help. I created a backup copy to use for dropbox and I think I put information in backup copy. Not sure exactly what I'm doing because I do not want to be able to make changes from mobile device. Just use that for viewing. In trying to do this I think I got scrambled. Will have to go back to manual and study.
      Thanks, Junior

I seem to have lost a lot of data in Reunion 12. Is it possible I didn't install it properly to transfer the files? I still have Reunion 11 and the data is still there. Thanks.

It's highly unlikely that the install is incorrect. More likely, you didn't properly upgrade your family file to version 12. Take a look at the instructions at http://www.leisterpro.com/doc/v12/qu...wtoupgrade.php. Hopefully, this will take care of your problems.

Thank you. Still no luck after downloading 12 again. It says it is converting but there are still missing files. I cannot find the file in Dropbox. Not sure what to try next. Thx

I'm not sure what you mean by "missing files." If you use Reunion 12 to open and convert your old family file, then a new version 12 family file will be created with all of your data, assuming you selected the correct version 11 family file to convert.

Sometimes, we see situations where users have multiple copies of family files, and sometimes the family files are in different locations. Without realizing it, they may be opening one family file in Reunion 11; but then using Reunion 12 to convert a different family file.

To sort this out, it'd be best to contact our help line (help@LeisterPro.com) where somebody can help you drill-down to see what's happening (via screen-shots and some Q&A).

That's the problem, a lot of data from 11 is missing. I think you're right that I need to call the help line. Thanks for trying!
