Working with TIFF files and their metadata - or at least trying.

The stories told in my family photos never seem to confine themselves to simply one picture, so I've been scanning sets into multipage tiff files, using VueScan. I need to be able to organize those files and complete the metadata and have found that while most programs handle jpg, pdf or raw fairly well, tiff seems to be the odd format out.

Thoughts, cautions, advice or recommendations? If Don't Do That! is offered, please give detailed advice on What To Do. Thanks to all corresponders.

Adobe Bridge is sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Defense for TIFF metadata purposes. Library of Congress and it’s contractors also use it for batch runs. Not cheap though.

The challenge with TIFF files is that they are enormously large.
