Hi
I was wondering if you know of any sites for mailing lists other than Rootsweb.
I am a list owner on Rootsweb for the surname Degruy.
I just tried to start another list for the Evans surname, limited to those Evanses who migrated from MD>PA>KY>OH>IN>LA.
This request was denied because Rootsweb said it was too specific.
I am disappointed because I believe it would have been a great way for family members, scattered all over the US, to feel more connected. And we would have researched allied families, all those who married Evanses.
Whatever, the request was denied, so now I'm looking for some other venue.
Would anyone have any suggestions? How do I find a family mailing list like the ones offered by Rootsweb?
Thanks

Genforum (http://genforum.com/) also has surname forums (fora?) but they, too, might find the specifics too limiting. There was a time when I would recommend starting a thread on Usenet but I don't know if people go there any more. Yahoo groups might also work. But these may not be discoverable by people surfing via Google (as the postings in Rootsweb and genforum are).

Then maybe a Google group might be the answer...
