Is there a "correct" way to enter the date of death for soldiers that are missed in a war? There are options for the date like "after", "before", ... but none for "missed".

The dates (for example on gravestones) say "1900 - missed 1945" so I enter the "missed 1945" in Reunion as a custom date.

I like this better than enter 1945 as year of death and than use a flag like "missed in a war" because it's better visible.

Are there better ways to do that?

You could use

aft 1944

and put a note into the Memo field to expand on what this means and why it says what it does.

the aft is acceptable in date fields.
