Jerry - the marriage records I am using are not certificates right now; I am using the Michigan marriage records from the FamilySearch Pilot currently, and these records have a section at the end (well, the newer records do) of each entry that states Witnesses: name and residence. These are often different from where the marriage was performed.
However, if i thought that the residence was incorrect, or was blank, I would still use a Residence event, with a date and no place, to indicate that I have found the person at a certain time. This sometime's occurs when I am using obituaries as a source, and it simply lists the relatives without specific locations. I will put in a date with no place, and source the obituary. This allows me, then, to use the Source List and find all people that are linked to a particular source. I would love to have an "automatic" way of being able to 'link' witnesses, but currently, this works for me. Sara G.
