Default Ancestry.com kaput?

I am finding most of the Ancestry.com website to be unaccessible most of yesterday and today (so far). I can reach the home page www.ancestry.com and the online store at store.ancestry.com, but am having no luck reaching anything that involves search.ancestry.com.

Is this just me or is the site having trouble?

Does anyone know of a forum or web site I can check for news about this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance (and Merry Christmas!)
Robert

I got search results just fine. Perhaps you got there when they were doing maintenance on certain portions of Ancestry.

Ditto. I was there for a couple hours with zero problems this afternoon. Try clearing the cache on your browser program and see if that helps.

Hi, thanks for the help everybody. I've now flushed the browser cache, reset the cable modem, rebooted the computer -- and still either no access or agonizingly slow access to features on Ancestry.com that appear to require calls to search.ancestry.com. I'll have to call up Ancestry.com support when they're open on Monday.

Thanks again,
Robert

Fortunately for me, I called my ISP instead of waiting for Monday to call Ancestry.com. The technician was able to fix my problem by causing my router/cable modem to be issued a new IP address. I don't know enough to understand why this fixed the problem but I nevertheless *think* I can do it myself next time, if there's ever a next time. (Namely, "System Preferences" > "Network" > "Advanced" > "Renew DHCP license"). But I don't have enough nerve to try it out now ... everything seems to be working and who wants to spoil that? :-) I am a happy camper once again.

Glad you're back to full speed.

Occasionally, I will 'bog down' and/or not be able to surf. I shut down, unplug my cable modem and wireless router; wait about 30 seconds; and, starting with the modem, plug in one then the other & restart my Mac. Seems to work 99% of the time.
