Missing surname in Reminders

I occasionally see people in the reminder list whose surname is missing, e.g.

Stephen Douglas
vs
Stephen Douglas Urquhart

This seems to repeat every day for the seven days my list displays.

Any ideas on what I have done to cause this?

The first thing to check is the width of the Reminders sidebar.

It can be made wider or thinner; and if it's a little too thin, surnames will not appear.

I've noticed a similar phenomenon with Ages in the sidebar. Grandparents and grandchildren show full names, including the last name, but parents, siblings, and children only show first and middle names.

My Reminders sidebar shows full names, including surname.

However, my Ages sidebar does not have the surnames of the person/people listed at the top of the sidebar, nor in the list itself, as Susan indicates, i.e. grandparents have surnames, anyone in the immediate family do not have surnames. This has nothing to do with how wide the sidebar is.

When I did a preview/print for Ages, the person's full name showed at the top but no surnames for parents, spouse, siblings and children. This could be very confusing if you sent a printout to someone who did not know much about the family (such as a newly found, thru DNA match, 1C1R!).

The Ages sidebar behaves as follows...

• grandparents and grandchildren of the source person include surnames

• the following do not include surnames...
- mother/father of source person
- marriage/spouse for source person
- children of source person
- siblings of source person

Of course, whether or not these different groups of relatives appear in the Ages sidebar is determined by the sidebar settings (gear icon, under the Ages sidebar).

I didn't realize that the whole surname would disappear if all of it could not be displayed.
