    adoption + non-biological father

I've got a real mess on my hands and am not sure how to handle it.
... a child who was adopted at or near birth
... her mother who died shortly after the child was born
... the man who married her mother was not her biological father
... the biological father - who arranged the adoption
... the mother's family who shunned the child and refused to take her in due to religious beliefs (forbidden union) and pushed for the child's adoption ...

    - How do I show both sets of "parents" and the biological father?

    I'm using Reunion 10 on a Mac (10.9).
    thanks

This doesn't seem very unusual. It's just a child adopted by her stepfather, if I'm understanding it correctly.

I'd enter the child (A) and her biological father (B) + mother (C), marking B+C as "not married."

Then add the mother's marriage to husband (D).

Finally, add the child (A) as a child of the marriage of (C) and (D), (as a "duplicate") making her child status "adopted", and add a note detailing the family dynamics as you've written it above.

(Or if I've misunderstood, and A was adopted by E & F, alter the final step).

yes, that's very close ... but the couple that adopted her had no previous connection to the biological family ... so they'd be E&F in your reply ...
... but there's one more twist: when she was adopted (as an infant) her name was changed.
... so I also need some way to show that "Susan" and "Caroline" are the same person

        thanks

You can add an Alias/AKA field to "Facts". You can use the name fields (First: Susan, later Caroline; Last: Smith, later Jones.) You could also simply note the lesser-used name in Misc. Notes.
