    Who is the 'father'

    Technically I have no problem.

A second cousin had a fling and her resulting son is now 55. He was told at age 16 who his biological father was, but was always treated as the son of my cousin's late husband.

This is now public knowledge as he has written a memoir about his real father [see https://www.theguardian.com/books/20...ler-tony-white and https://www.theguardian.com/books/20...blake-morrison if you are interested].

He is in the family tree under his 'adoptive' father: I have no idea what is on his birth certificate, but I'd guess the adoptive father. Should I now created a new father with no marriage, or leave it be?

There is clearly no privacy matter here as his mother, now 84, seems not to mind.
