Default Swiss Probate Courts

I am transcribing an early 19th Century will which has been translated from French to English by UK Probate Courts. The copies are in excellent condition but I am having problems reading the writing. There are several references to "Judiciary Court of poate or peace".
Can anyone who is familiar with Swiss legal system offer suggestions as to what the words are?

I’m not really familiar with the Swiss legal system, but I lived there for many years and know they have so called (in German) ‚Friedensrichter‘ – justices of the peace. So maybe the words in your document have to be read as ‚Court of probate or peace‘.

If you are familiar with German:

http://www.hls-dhs-dss.ch/textes/d/D27462.php

I found this translated site in Google

http://translate.google.ch/translate...iki/Schiedsamt

At the end of this article they note:
"In Switzerland they call the arbitrators or justices of the peace mediators. Their legal basis are the various cantonal judicial systems."

As I expected, it is equivalent to the French situation. If you google for <"justice de paix" suisse>, you'll find several articles, especially on wikipedia.
